Boatright, Dona

 

Dona Boatright has been associated with California Community Colleges since 1971, and has worked in higher education as a faculty member, academic administrator, chief instructional officer, and as Vice Chancellor for Educational Services and Workforce Development for the California Community Colleges System Chancellor’s Office. Her faculty experience included teaching political science, and serving as a Department Chair and Academic Senate President. She also completed the coursework and exams for a Doctorate in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Her administrative experience included both mid and senior-level positions as Vocational Dean, Vice President for Planning and Development, and three Vice President of Academic Affairs positions. Dona also served as the president of the California Chief Instructional Officers Association, is co-author of the Chief Instructional Officers’ Manual, and has conducted numerous training sessions on enrollment management for community colleges across the state of California.

Since retiring, Dona has worked as a consultant to the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and the James Irvine Foundation, particularly in the area of Basic Skills education in the community colleges. She has been a consultant to many college districts including Peralta Community College District, Lassen College, Mira Costa College, San Francisco City College, Cuyamaca College, Allan Hancock College, West Valley College, and State Center Community College District. Her consulting expertise is in the areas of enrollment management, curriculum development, basic skills, student learning outcomes, strategic planning, budget allocation modeling, educational master planning, workforce development, guided pathways, and faculty leadership development. Dona is an avid advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing consulting services focused on closing the achievement gap for under-represented and marginalized students through intentional instructional design and student support services’ efforts to achieve the state’s Vision for Success.
