Team Coaching

Leadership teams are faced with significant internal and external pressures. They need to be supported to build strong relationships with each other and with key stakeholders, focus university priorities, and build the competence for agile decision-making and leading change to advance campus success.

A coaching engagement with a team will usually begin with a Discovery phase. The Discovery phase will include one-on-one interviews or an online team assessment. The program utilizes a systems approach that identifies the requirements to lead, builds the shared identity of the team, builds relationships, and provides tools to implement successfully. The work will consist of mini-workshops, team- and strengths-based assessments, and team coaching and skill development. Coaches will use research-based tools created for systems work with teams (Team Coaching International).

An example of a potential Team Coaching engagement follows:

Phase One: Discovery

The Discovery phase consists of one-on-one interviews to determine perceptions of the current state and requirements to lead. Online assessments can also be utilized in the phase to determine the team’s productivity and level of positivity. The insights gained in the Discovery phase are utilized to customize the engagement.

Phase Two: Build Common Language and Identity

Two Team Assessment Workshops will be held over the course of the engagement. Workshops will be half to one full day in duration. The workshops will be held to support the team in understanding the assessment results, creation of action plans to focus team work and team building activities.

Phase Three: Team Coaching

Facilitator will provide one team coaching session per month for six months. The team coaching is designed to facilitate ongoing learning and ensure results. These sessions are designed around shared team goals developed out of the assessments and workshops. The coach will ask powerful questions, actively listen, and provide direct feedback. The coaching sessions are designed to support the team in achieving its vision and making their campus THRIVE!!

These sessions can be conducted remotely using technology.
